Cardiologist Telehealth Call – 5/5/26
Matt had a telehealth call with his cardiologist today.
In December 2025 he had an echocardiogram done which was showing loss of heart function. Getting chemotherapy over multiple years can sometimes takes a toll on some of your primary organs like the heart and kidneys. His blood pressure has always been stable over the years, but the heartbeat was not as strong as it should be.
Starting in January, 2026 his cardiologist placed him on 4 different types of heart medications. All of them get administered at different times throughout the day so we have to be very diligent in tracking which ones are given and when. His cardiologist also recommended taking his blood pressure twice a day to make sure his systolic pressure does not get too high or low.
In March of this year Matt had a more advanced echocardiogram done which gives the cardiologist a much more detailed view on the heart function. The results of the echocardiogram was the reason for today’s call.
Some good news is that the heart is now back to normal levels. It’s at the lower end of the normal spectrum but much better than before. This is especially good news as a lot of the clinical trials require a certain level of heart function to be able to even qualify.
Matt will still continue to take his heart meds but can scale back on one of them which makes things a little easier for us.
We ended the call with his cardiologist wanting to perform another similar echocardiogram 6 months out.
